Bowerjack Get started Help Projects

Custom printable card decks, researched for you.

Pick a theme: military aircraft, the springs of a mountain town, the computers of the 1970s. Bowerjack Studio researches each subject, finds pictures you may print and checks their licenses, then lays out the cards for you to style and refine, with your AI assistant or by hand. Download print-ready files to make at home or send to a card maker.

Bowerjack is in beta: signing up needs an invite code. While it is in beta, we may reset it, and a reset deletes every deck. Your account and sign-in are kept.

What Bowerjack makes

Researched

Each subject is researched from Wikipedia and around the web. Bowerjack keeps the pages it used, so each card can be traced to its sources, and a card can show a description, a date or any other fact you ask for.

Pictures you may legally print

Each picture's license is checked to make sure it may be printed on a card, and its license holder is credited as the license asks, such as CC BY. When no picture fits, your assistant can make one from the deck's own pictures.

Designed in Studio

Every card is a page of one document in Studio's vector editor: styles, swatches and fonts across the whole deck at once, or one card at a time. Crop and resize each picture, or extend it to the card's edge with Generative Fill.

Ready to print

You download the deck, prepared for how it will be printed:

  • print-ready files for MakePlayingCards, DriveThruCards, or The Game Crafter, including a custom tuck box, to order printed decks from them (usually costs about $35-$45 shipped, takes about a month)
  • PDFs to print at home, with "Print Then Cut" patterns that you can import directly into Cricut(tm) Design Space(tm).

Bowerjack prepares the files only: it does not print, ship or take orders.

How a deck is made

  1. Sign up with your email address and, during the beta, your invite code. Bowerjack emails you a code to sign in. There is no password.
  2. Research your subjects. Ask your AI assistant for a deck about a topic. Claude works through Bowerjack's connector; ChatGPT works in its desktop app's built-in browser, on the Studio page. Or add subjects and pictures yourself.
  3. Pick the art. In Art Selection, choose each subject's picture among the candidates, frame the part you want, ask for more, or have a picture made.
  4. Style and refine the cards in Studio, with your assistant or by hand: the whole deck at once, or only the cards you choose.
  5. Download it for a card maker, or as PDFs to print and cut at home.
  6. Understand your category. Not every topic makes a good deck. Because we look for art we are allowed to print, copyrighted likenesses, such as cartoon and video game characters and modern celebrities, are unlikely to have openly licensed pictures.

Each step has a guide on the Help page.
